We know that moving to a new surgery can be an unsettling experience, as no two doctors ever practice in exactly the same way. Because of this, we have decided to cover a number of points which patients most frequently ask about.

At Willow Green we will endeavor to give you an appointment with the doctor of your choice. If, however, the doctor you wish to see is fully booked on that day, you may be offered an appointment with another doctor, our triage nurses or Paramedics. Sometimes the doctors may choose to book their own appointments, if this is the case they will phone you and discuss the problem with you then if you and they still feel you need to be seen they will make an appointment with you.

More and more patients are finding that they do not need to see the doctor. If you feel that a telephone consultation or an appointment with our triage nurses or paramedics would be appropriate please let the receptionist know.

Monday is always our busiest day - if the reason you need to see the doctor is not urgent, perhaps you could make an appointment later in the week.

We offer pre-bookable appointments, some which can be booked up to two weeks in advance. If you feel you need to be seen the same day, you may be offered a telephone consultation or a triage appointment with a Doctor, Specialist Nurse or paramedic. Our appointments start from 7.30a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays for those who work or attend school or college. Further details are available at reception.

Please note:  If you are unable to keep your appointment please let the receptionist know.

Urgent Requests

If you feel you need to be seen by a doctor the same day, you may be offered a telephone triage slot.  The receptionist will take your details and the duty doctor will call you back.

Practice Nurses and Paramedics

Appointments can be made in advance.

Our triage system has been extended to offer patients more choice and to relieve pressure on the doctors.  Our Specialist Nurses or Paramedic Practioners are qualified to see and treat many minor illnesses and ailments that were previously seen by the doctors.  Some are also able to issue prescriptions for some conditions.

If it is something that you feel needs to be seen the same day, you may be asked by a member of staff what the problem is – you may then be offered an appointment with our specialist nurse or paramediic.

They work very closely with, and are supported by, all of the doctors and between them are able to see patients with the following conditions:-

Sore throat

Mouth Infections

Minor eye conditions

Hay fever

Chest Infections

Vaginal discharge

Period Pains

Emergency contraception

Cystitis/urine infection

Missed contraceptive pill advice

Minor injuries

Chaperone Policy

We are committed to providing a safe, comfortable environment where patients and staff can be confident that best practice is being followed at all times. All patients are entitled to have a chaperone present for any consultation, examination or procedure where they feel one is required. On occasions you may prefer a formal chaperone to be present i.e. a trained member of staff.

Wherever possible we would ask you to make this request at the time of booking your appointment so that arrangements can be made and your appointment is not delayed in any way. Where this is not possible we will endeavour to provide a formal chaperone at the time of the request, however, occasionally it may be necessary to reschedule your appointment.

Your doctor or nurse may also require a chaperone to be present for certain consultations.

Click here if you would like to see a copy of our Chaperone Policy. If you have have any questions or comments regarding this please ask to speak to the Practice Manager.

Please tell us if you cannot keep your appointment. Either telephone 785152 or send us a text to 07831758650. Start the message with the word cancel then your name and date of appointment.

No texts or telephone calls sent to this number will be answered.

This will help to ensure that no appointments are wasted.
